About Hirondelle
Hirondelle is a BWP-registered mare born in 2007. She comes from an exceptional dam line and is a descendant of Contact van de Heffinck x Randel Z x Beaujolais x Farn. This mare was purchased at the age of six partly because of her outstanding rideability and strong genetic background. With a withers height and conformation that meet the requirements of modern sport, Hirondelle excels with her excellent technique, carefulness, and scope on the jump.
Sporting Career
After her purchase, Hirondelle initially performed at 1.00 metre level. She was further trained and quickly showed her potential by successfully participating in 1.10-metre courses. Thanks to her technical precision, work ethic and natural athletic talent, she reached the 1.20-metre level. Her reliability and caution on the jump made her a valued partner in the ring. After her active sports career, Hirondelle was used in breeding, where she passes on her valuable traits to her offspring.
Sire line
Hirondelle's sire, Contact van de Heffinck, is a Holstein stallion who has made a big name for himself in both sport and breeding. He is a son of Concept (Concerto II x Ramiro), a stallion notable for his exceptional genetic background and sporting achievements, including a final place at the Bundeschampionat as a 6-year-old.
Key traits of Contact van de Heffinck:
- Pedigree: Concept is descended from the famous show jumper sire Concerto II. The dam's line (275) is closely related to Landgraf I and Olympic champion Orchidee.
- Power and elasticity: Contact is known for his unlimited jumping ability, supple movements, and explosive power on the jump.
- Offspring: His offspring excel in the international sport and combine work ethic with superior rideability and jumping technique.
Mother line
Hirondelle's dam, Holivea van Costerveld, herself performed up to 1.40m level. She has a proven impact on breeding and is a daughter of Randel Z, a stallion from the legendary combination Ramiro Z x Alme Z x Gotthard.
Significant achievements from Hirondelle's dam line
- Holivea van Costerveld, together with Clinton, produced the GP show jumper Vivaldo van het Costerveld, who was successful under Jessica Kürten and later Roger Yves Bost. Vivaldo is approved as a breeding stallion in Ireland.
- Granddam Gudula O (Beaujolais x Farn) bred the international show jumper Querido van het Costerveld, who competed under Peter Postelmans and Tom Davin.
- Rabanna van Costerveld, a half-sister of Holivea, is the dam of Olympic stallion Cornet Obolensky (Windows van het Costerveld). This Clinton son is one of the most influential stallions in modern showjumping horse breeding.
Strengths of the dam's line:
- Prudence and technique: This line is known for its jumping ability and natural talents on the jump.
- Power and reliability: Horses from this line combine power with excellent rideability.
The influence of this bloodline is felt worldwide, with numerous offspring excelling in international sport.
